Well looks like I'm buying the msi gt780 one I'm most likely to be getting is a US model lol.
Appears there will be no 17 inch ivy bridge ones in my price range for a while.
So my current choices are $1,799 Windows® 7 Home Premium - 64-bit operating system, Intel® Core™ i7-2670QM Sandy Bridge processor 2.2GHz Nvidia® GeForce® GTX 560M 1.5GB GDDR5 VRAM, 750GB 7200rpm speed hard drive, 16GB 1333MHz RAM, 17.3" Full HD (1920x1080 resolution) LED MATTE DISPLAY LED Full Color Backlight keyboard, HDMI port, Bluetooth, standard b/g/n Wireless, Ethernet, 9-cell battery, DVD SuperMulti double-layer drive 2 year warranty
or $1,947 Intel Core i7-2630QM 2.0Ghz 16GB DDR3 (1333Mhz) system memory 1000GB (2x500GB) 7200RPM HDD RAID, Bluray player and DVD+/-RW Combo Drive 17.3-inch LED FHD (1920x1080) MATTE DISPLAY nVidia Geforce GTX560 with 1.5GB Dedicated Video Memory Intel Wireless-N Advanced 6230, 10/100/1000 Ethernet LAN, Bluetooth Windows® 7 Home Premium 64bit LED Full Color Backlight keyboard, 9 Cell Battery 3 year warranty
I asked about additional batteries mainly so I don't have to go though what I'm had with my current one. $200 each and a 2 week order time.
So I'm thinking buy the laptop now. Maybe turn it on once leave it wait 2 weeks buy 2 more batteries then get yelled at for paying 2400$ for something I don't need.
This will most likely be the most expensive computer I have owned. Well my old 166mhz desktop which cost $2000 lol. So excluding extra batteries is just cheaper.

I think I'm going to go with plan c and hope I don't end up missing out on something I wanted. Hopefully msi makes a bigger bother of the gt780 and have a ivy bridge processor and a higher up video card.
Plan c is paying off a debt that I technically have. I was meant to pay for half the roofing. I so far have paid around $2000 (if I didn't get it done I would have had 4000$ to spend on a laptop lol.) so if I dump my laptop fund onto it. Then I basically have paid it off. By doing this it allows me to use the excuse I thought of to get the new laptop. Also I wont get yelled at for buying a laptop before paying for it. So yeahs. Looks like I'm going to do that. Should take 2 or 3 months to get to where I am. Only things I have to look out for that might delay it are any unexpected game releases. The wii U if I decide to buy it. Or if something of mine blows up.

Well that was mehhy. I just got a message from dell telling me the one I wanted is now 30% off. Even the one I wanted originally is now $1670. 3d upgrade is free again too. I have a feeling some stores don't like me.

You didn't buy a new laptop yet right? Could you but that Dell one now then?

Well no I ended up using the laptop fund to pay off the debt thing I had. But I was right in thinking there would be a sale happing after I did it. I didn't mind the dell specially with the 3d upgrade. (which I never/hardly would have used.) I decided to wait out and get a ivy bridge or a reduced price sandy bridge if any are left in like 2-3 months. If I did buy a laptop first I could have gotten screamed at for not paying for the roofing thing. So decided not to risk it. The original roofing idea was to get a 24 month pay off payment thing. But the inflated price and poor quality of equipment they used etc was not worth it. If I was able to get what I ended up getting for the a inflated by a bit price then I would have gone with it. I had to go with another option get a family loan. So I did that. But I have no idea when and how exactly I was meant to pay it off. I already have given them ~$2000 already. (I buy crap for them online as I know how to use a computer/interwebs they don't). Also paid there speeding fine online. I really should have kept better records lol. As I have no idea how much crap I ended up buying for them. I've only had the thing done a month and a week now. As far as I knew it was meant to be paid out over the year or 2 years. It was a no hurry thing. But now its like <$1500 remaining out of $5500 owed. So like 75% paid off. I think its a bit higher but yeah no proof so 75% it is. So I think its low enough that I can get myself a present. With out being screamed at. Before I couldn't really take a laptop anywhere now when I get one I should be able too.

Oh right I forgot you we're paying some debts. It would be cool to treat yourself to a present, so go ahead and do it. A new laptop is definitely a good present lol

Well it appears waiting was a good thing.
Some sites have now listed prices for the ivy bridge laptops and I must say they are pretty nice. Going to be a pain in the rear having to go though them all to decide what one is nice and what is meh though all over again.
But $1500 to $1800 will no doubt be all I need. Less if I can find some reduced sandy bridge ones, seems they are already in limited stock so yeah will be doubtful that they will have any left in June.

Well this is sad face. Sandy bridge laptops are going up in price, what was $1700 is now $2100. Anything else seems to be selling out at the pre ivy bridge price. At this rate I may end up getting a AMD laptop. As ivy bridge laptops are higher price then expected and also ivy bridge runs hotter. I did spend some time looking at AMD laptops. I can get a few laptops that score better then this laptop in cpu and graphics wise for ~$600 No idea what battery life and stuff AMD's get though. But the store isn't far away and wouldn't have to pay postage and easy returns if they break. I did find some sites using google that had some nice looking laptops but no idea if they are decent sites to buy from though. One had a HP DV7 refurbished for ~$1200. Which if they still have next month I'll most likely get. So I just need to avoid spending more then $400 in the next 14 days.

Damn, well AMD's aren't bad, I have a quad core AMD in my desktop and it runs great. My friend has a quad core AMD in his laptop that runs really well too and people say you can overclock it to get an awesome performance out of it. For the price difference it might be worth just going AMD.

After reading the tech advice on whirlpool I am sort of sceptical about AMD's though. I haven't ruled out getting one completely. Its just lower on the list. List isn't all that long as it stands anyway. First choice, second choice, scream at something then look for a decent AMD one. The laptop I'm pretty much sure of getting (unless it sells out from 2 different stores that have it for the same'ish price.) has switch-able graphics, 12 cell battery capability (from what I can tell will ask before buying), 2 hard drives, full hd and blu ray drive. Pretty much everything I want except for 5ghz wireless and a backlit keyboard. $1200. But have seen it on some lame auction site (makes eBay look nice) sell for $700 Intel Core i7-2670QM (2.20GHz, 6M Cache) 8GB DDR3 SDRAM 1.5TB (2 x 750GB) SATA Hard drive Blu-ray Rom with SuperMulti DVDR/RW Double Layer 17.3` Full HD Anti-glare LED Display (1920 x 1080) Intel HD Graphics, ATI Radeon HD 6770M (2GB dedicated) 802.11 b/g/n wlan, Bluetooth, Integrated 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet LAN Windows 7 Home Premium. But I maybe able to afford something better. Really depends on how much money I decide to spend. Currently I can spend up to 200$ a week and still buy it but this week seems I'll have quite a bit left over. like $140. I'm cutting down on take out. Surprising how much I pay for it lol.

That's a sweet laptop and should be able to handle anything you throw at it. Unless of course you plan on rendering 3D models while running Crisis 2

Oh darn that's exactly what I wanted to do. While looking at some auction sites I found a nice dell alienware one before its thing ends on Wednesday though. I bookmarked it to see what it actually sells for. Dell themselves is having a End of Financial Year sale (up to 41% off). Which shows signs of having better deals next month. Current offers ends 31th of May, Financial year ends the 30th of June so people buy stuff like laptops and computers to claim on tax and that. More middle of to end of June. As you can put the tax return in on July 1st and get the money back within 6 days. But I guess maybe pay the rest off the roof thing entirely would also be a possibility. Next nice sale would be December/January though. But I would be fully free to do whatever then. Edit: The one I wanted has again gone up in price.. How does a refurbished laptop become more expensive? Its now $1300 how does that work.... Maybe the sales aren't sales this time of year it's a chance to put prices up? Anyway I'm pretty much sure that I'll just pay the roof off and start from scratch again. Most likely better that I did pay the roof off fully first. This is getting annoying though lol.
