Over the years I have had more then I can count. Nearly all where second hand. My latest one was new.
What I dislike about my current one.
My current one doesn't have a working battery.
Its toasty for no reason 60'c or 140f I believe is the conversion.
The keyboard hardly ever works correctly. If you ever wonder why some of my forum posts seem to be having words missing chances are I typed it on the laptop.
The mouse thing randomly clicks. So I'll be typing away and then all of a sudden its typing in another line altogether. Which annoys the cookies out of me.
No guide buttons so I hit the wrong keys all the time. Great fun is when I use the arrow keys and I type 0's or hit ctrl until a annoying message pops up.
Stuff i can't complain about
It is still under warranty for a few more months. (still have to pay heaps for new batteries though.)
The speed of it overall fast enough.
If I was get a new one I will get either of the following.
Option 1 $1,082.05
2nd generation Intel® Core™ i7-2670QM Processor ( 2.2GHz 1333MHz 6MB )
Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64
NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M 1GB
6 GB PC3-10600 DDR3 SDRAM 1333MHz
15.6 " HD Glare with integrated camera 1366x768
750GB 5400
Intel 1000 BGN Wireless
DVD Recordable (Dual Layer)
Bluetooth Version 2.1 + EDR
Battery: 6 Cell Lithium-Ion
Option 2 $930
Intel Core i7-2640M Processor (2.80GHz, 4MB L3, 1333MHz with Intel HD Graphics 3000)
Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit)
15.6" HD (1366x768) LED Backlit Display, Anti-Glare, Midnight Black
AMD Mobility Radeon 2GB HD 6630M
6 GB PC3-10600 DDR3 SDRAM 1333MHz SODIMM Memory (2 DIMM)
500GB Hard Disk Drive, 7200rpm
DVD Recordable
9 Cell Li-Ion Battery
Broadcom Bluetooth 3.0 with antenna
ThinkPad 1x1 b/g/n
Both have things I like. Number 2 is slightly customisable where as Number 1 isn't.
Number 1. notes: I don't think I need a quad core laptop but from what I can tell the video card is way better then 2's.
Drawbacks are it only has a 6cell battery. 5400rpm hard drive.
Number 2 notes. It's cheaper and I can get a discount coupon to make it cheaper apparently they are 15% off coupons.
Better battery. Faster hard drive. Faster cpu turbo speeds of up to 3.5 GHz. Video card is slow but is better then what my current one.
(my current one is a AMD Mobility Radeon 5470 1gig model.)
Any advice?
