What to do in this case?

I'm going to give you a few details of a family member recently and the last few years.

My grandma's dog passed away earlier on today. The dog had a fit yesterday afternoon I believe it was. The dog was taken to the vet were they couldn't find anything wrong. Few tests carried out.
The dog was like 12 years old I think. Was a few years older then my outside dog who is 10 this year. My inside dog was ranged from 5 to 8 and had him for 3 years or something.

Now my grandma has had quite a few dogs some for short amounts of time others 10 years or so.
She was saying this will be here last dog doesn't want anymore. We kinda disagree with that.
Provided she gets a decent dog if my grandma passes away I'll look after it.
(now I'm not meaning to go get her one tomorrow type thing.)

The dog she had for a short time was a rescue Doberman. Who was declared dangerous and put to sleep for biting the girl that lives next door to my grandma. Dog was like 13 months old. She had it for 3 months.

Now the particular reason why I mentioned the Doberman is the reason why she got it. Her house was broken into while she was home. Yeah wasn't a fun experience she went all shy and stuff. She didn't see the person as she was downstairs at the time.
Now something that is strange all her fly screen doors have holes where the inside lock is.
I am the only one who has said that I feel someone has attempted to break in. (sure others have thought it but said nothing to not scare her.) No holes anywhere else except for the lock area. She doesn't have a cat to have done it and its on all of her doors in the same place.

So yeah we are thinking of possibly getting her a dog like our inside dog. They bark and stuff and would be a deterrent to anyone breaking in.
She loves Harley my inside dog. We take it to her house when we go visit. Harley will be sad to see that his friend is no longer there to play with him.

So opinions do we convince her to get another dog more importantly how? maybe get her one like ours?
Harley is low maintenance provided you play ball with them every now and then they are happy and don't get fat.
I don't really want to find out she has had another break in as whoever (we feel its the people who live in her street that did it.) She was dog less at the time after her previous dogs passed away. So yeah may see her as a target again in a week+.

It's going to be hard to convince her so soon to get another dog. I'm not sure what you should do, that's a tough one.

Well my dad had to go dig a hole as my grandma was out doing election stuff most of the day.

When she got home from that my grandma said to him would like to get another dog. But doesn't want to go though the loss of the pet dying.
Note my grandma is 73. If she was get a puppy and it lived until 12 years of age like Dolly did. She would be 85. With her memory at times now by then she would have forgotten what a dog was in 12 years.
She also used the excuse that I don't have to dog sit when she goes on holidays later on in the year. Yeah so what am I meant to do with 300$ credit on my cell phone???. I have been saving it for mobile tv and a heap of tethering downloads. (only thing is my phone drops out all the time at her house.) When I dog sat a few years ago I stole the neighbours unlocked wifi seems they added a wifi password lol

If I get her a Harley type dog but a girl. We should have no problems keeping the dog here for however many weeks or even permanently if my grandma ended up in a nursing home.
If she ends up with some mixed breed thing like Tiger my outside dog then no.
But I have found quite a few Harley dogs looking for homes basically a constant steam of them. Yoshi the cute dog I wanted would suit her fine.

medium sized dog, no brushing requirements are a indoor pet. Loves people. They do like to sleep on beds and chairs though would be a free bed heater Harley does it with pride lol.

Side note: I just had a idea to look though my iPhone pictures to see if there are any pictures that I could get printed out of my grandma's dog.
I found a few that where too dark one that my dog wrecked the picture as his face is all funny. Good one dog.
I then decided to check my digital camera's I have 3 to check lol.
Anyway I found a nice one to get printed out.
I just have to figure out where I can get it printed and framed and what size to get.

Well my grandma is all umm odd at the moment.
She kept giving Harley treats (candy, dog biscuits and ice cream) and even feed him at the table etc.
She also kept saying how wonderful/beautiful he is.

She informed us that she has 2 trips this year. So doesn't want a dog because of these.
I see it as get a Harley dog.
Same thing as I have been looking for a while around 2 years of age preferably under 2. House-trained and obedience trained. If its both it can say here when she is away. No biggy. She may not get it back though lol.

But she replied with its not big enough to keep scary people away.
Well he keeps most people away here. Power company wont read the meter. Gas company does. He scares most door to door sales persons away.

She probably misses her dog still so she is being super nice to your dog. Good luck, hopefully you find her the right dog.

Seems we will never know what my grandma's dog passed away from.
My grandma paid for 300$ worth of tests and had 2 vials of blood taken from the dog. Only one vial ended up at the testing place.
So only were able to test for a few things. One test that showed possible internal bleeding. Rest they did showed nothing. She will be getting a partial refund for the non done tests.

But on a good note seems my grandma does want to get another dog. She gave a heap of treats to my dog again. She kept all the dogs bedding. But is trying to give away dog shampoo as well as nail clippers.

In about July I'll say to her that if we get her a dog like Harley then when she goes away to wherever I'll look after it here or at her place. (even though her house is boring as.)
