Its most likely different from the other side of the world but I'll ask.
Yesterday I went to one one of my bank cards to pay for dinner. Sorry card denied. I went huh I just put money into that account oh well I'll try my other one. Denied too.... I thought the card reader in the shop was busted. It isn't uncommon for the lines to go down in stores. So I went to the local atm. Put card in there denied contact bank. I really am confused at this stage maybe the whole network is down for some reason. Look check websites on iPhone nope nothing to say there are any outages.
So I'm like what in peaches is wrong!?!?!?!
These are the things that are bugging me
1. Is it common for a bank to cancel your cards with out telling you?
2. Why are my cards frozen or cancelled?
I can transfer money via online banking between accounts. So I doubt the accounts themselves are frozen.
Unless I was somehow entering my pin numbers in wrong. I tired it several times though. Normally I get it right at one time. So I don't know what's up.
Edit: So I found out what was wrong. they had cancelled my cards. One card made sense the other card not so much. They cancelled one card because I got a new one which was fair enough. (I didn't try the replacement card hehe so yeah my fault. Partly theirs for not telling me it would be cancelled it worked on Monday like 2 or more months since the upgrade.) Other card they had no idea why it was cancelled. I didn't ask for the card to be cancelled nor could they find the reason. So they are sending me a new one. The joys I have sometimes.

Yep and this happened later on
"ACCOUNT details of up to one million Telstra customers have possibly been breached after an internal website was made public.
The website listed Telstra customers on bundle plans and included their names, plan types, addresses, DOB, contact they had had with Telstra customer service and in some instances their account passwords."
I was one of the ones. So all databases are closed we have access to interwebs but not billing or anything else. Chances are it was public for quite a while.

Yeah a multi billion $ ISP having security problems.
It wasn't even a hack it was a private database that somehow found its self on the internet. All you had to do was google 3 words (which where "telstra bundle contact.") and yeah hello lots of nomy personal info.
I don't know what I want to do.
1. Ask for like months and stuff for free? 2. Leave for another provider? 3. Attempt to sue them in a class action thing? End up with like 30$ for my troubles lol 4. Not sure wait and see what happens?

Bah I don't think I can actually order from the new store. I sound too crap (If you watch a stream you will understand.) and even people in call centres can't hear me how would a working pizza shop be? Id like to visit the store first and see what its like sound wise. If its nosey then phoning them is out of its quiet then I should be able to order. So looks like I'm stuck with other shops sadly. If only dads friend still lived here she could have ordered it for me.

More of a question then a rant.
So as you know my ISP had some security problems last week. Tonight they now have full service again apparently.
So now I can maybe order a new cable modem and get my darn password reset. So I can read emails again yay.
So here is the question it costs $149 for the new modem. But I'm not really thrilled with either modem they supply. Both have a heap of problems involving NAT tables wireless and drop outs. They may launch new modems soon was a rumour. One being one I may want. Should I pay 149$ again? To get a new modem when/if it does come out? Or wait and see if the new modem does come out?
Not really much point in asking really unless I fall a sleep I'll most likely order the current meh modems in 3 hours time.

I ended up falling a sleep. Then thought id try and catch Yoshi. (there is a guy at my ISP named Yoshi who used to do social network support now does sales and other stuff online.) Who was meant to be starting at 6am. So I used the online chat that works again. I ended up with someone who wasn't Yoshi which made me sad. No idea what modem I'm getting I have to look around for a new router though. I just got the one I had to a way I liked it.

So wait, I'm sorry, I read your post about your ISP security breach, but why did you have to order a new cable modem? Couldn't you just get the password reset on the current one? Also, don't you have a router you can keep using?

New modem is for increased speed. Not that I use my full download as it currently is. 5mbit is plently to watch game streams and youtube. So my 38mbit was over kill new speed 120mbit lol. But I wanted the better upload for game streams and general uploading. I may get more hailstorms videos or something one day. Upload random videos of my dog every day now lol. From what I can tell my current router would only support up to 75mbit (the figures I used where 5 revisions after mine so who knows what mine actually is.) I ended up getting a ASUS RT-N56U for the router which I should get tomorrow. I paid for next day delivery. I don't have anything to use the 5ghz frequency though. The laptop I may get in January should have a 5ghz enabled chip. My new modem will either be a Netgear CG3100 or a Cisco epc3925. Which I may get tomorrow. I have no idea when it was sent or what modem they sent to me. During my ISP lock out cable modems weren't affected. Connection is HFC MAC ID based not username and password based. So unless my modem blew up I was fine.

How did I know that this was going to happen. lol
So the router was delivered today yet still no sign of the modem.
I sent a email to my isp earlier on asking what day was it posted. They emailed me the tracking number. It was posted on the 19th so technically I should have gotten the modem today. I have no idea when I will be getting it. Tomorrow Friday maybe even next year. (reason why I say this is that they only have 2 delivery dates next week.)
I really should have waited until next month to order the new modem. lol
