Because I only seem to rant a-lot I thought Id put it in one thread. Feel free to rant here too So what am I ranting about today. My other phone company. I had another pay cable box kinda installed a few weeks ago that seems to have killed my internet. So I put a complaint in about the lack of a actual install it was plugged it into my cable internet cable. While there is no problems doing that when you have just cable internet other then it looks ugly. When you have 2 other services its called double splittering. Which makes nothing but trouble in a lot of cases. It makes a total signal loss of -7 (2x -3.5.) -3.5 on its own is fine. But -7 unless your getting over signal it into the very unhappy range. Where internet gets slow speeds and packet loss. The cable tv goes all pixely. I have a guy coming to day to look at it chances are I'll have to pay extra to get the box installed how it was meant to be installed last time. So I have to then complain about being charged twice to get something installed once. Where the cookies is my 3ds. So I ordered one yesterday but seems their was a error with the order. Its marked at please call customer service. Why though? Seems they are quite stupid at finding orders. People have been charged for them yet the store thing can never find the order then have to wait like 2 weeks to get the thing. Now I'm just waiting for the customer support thing to open. Then I get to be on hold all day or be told I sound like a girl. One or the other will happen no doubt. Hopefully they will be able to cancel. It seems if you go into another store and haggle you can get 2 games and a 3ds for 300$ which pwns their offer. Update: 22mins I was on hold for to get it canceled. Took them 3 seconds to cancel it. Weirdly though its now marked as Order Being Processed. Was marked as order canceled after I hung up. I got the email saying it had been canceled. Items are still marked as canceled though. Hopefully in a hour or so it will go back to canceled and paypal will cancel the order.

Phone company told me the cable install was fine. The dude said either installers would install it like that. I was like yeah only because they are cheap though. Why waste a hour installing it better when a 5min job saves money. They also get a rate per install so if they use 5$ of materials to install something they get to keep the rest. Mine used nothing of his so got to pocket the entire install. The tech guy found several network faults though. Which will get fixed in 8 years time lol. The store still hasn't cancelled the order with paypal. Also what is strange it says order currently being processed on the stores site. So paypal may decide to take it and hold it for a while. Edit: Well I now have a 3ds. I went to a shop waited for ages then couldn't find where to get a deal for the gaming section. One guy talked to a lady cashier for ages. He bought a phone, then wanted a case, then wanted some car charger thing, then insurance.

I was woken up today with a bang on the door. I thought it might have been a present for me. It was a level 2 cable tech. I nearly missed him though I was a sleep and needed to find pants. He came to tell me that my cable tv and internet should work correctly again. He replaced a really badly damaged part. He showed it to me I was like yeah that's broken. I'm sure as cookies it wouldn't have gotten that bad since his last visit 7ish months ago oh well. Part was 16 years old so it could have gotten worse. Guess he was lazy or didn't have a spare one with him last time. I was told nearly everything has now been replaced. So another problem is on the way I guess.. I bet he left the other part like the one that he replaced today to go bad in a week month etc lol.

Well its kinda odd still. Some pages wont load/load correctly. Some videos are slow. I tried to download a video from iTunes last night and it was at like 200KB/s my speed is normally 1-3MB/s.
Could be sea cables or something I stuffed in my router.

I take it its Ustream still ? If so that works fine for some odd reason. I'm watching the shuttle launch thingy atm but will test with other random stuff to confirm later on.
But I think its just a problem with some US backhaul lines. Maybe they started the re-route process, since Pacific Crossing West and Pacific Crossing North, which are now online. But we still have Japan - US to be up and running fully which my ISP uses. My ISP owns its own cable between Sydney Australia and Hawaii it then connects to Japan to US which was damaged in the earthquake.
Might be nothing but maybe the US backhaul providers are running at lower capacity to save money/whatever. Once japan - US is restored we will know what in cookies is up well I hope.
Edit: I just noticed I'm watching a HD copy of the shuttle video which has been perfect. I did watch a tad bit of a random stream at the same time which was also fine.
So far I have used 1.7gig watching the HD stream whoops lol. Lucky I'm not on my old 12gig plan. Which was changed only this time last year. 12 gig for 86.95$. My ISP finally got nice offering a extra 38gig for $1.05. Since then they have doubled the quota 2 times. Between 2004 and 2010 they put the quota up from 10 -12gig and the price up 20$. 10$ was the speed boost from 8mbit to 17mbit. The remaining 10$ was a extra charge because I didn't have a home phone in my name. Which I don't think they should have been able to do now that I think of it bit late now lol.

I just got a call from my cell phone provider.
They have now put more credits on my account. My bill which was 176$ is now 90$. So I ended up with a total of 100$ + 74$ + 86$ in credits. Which is being used to pay off the remaining charges that cancelling a phone that never worked that I got from them. Well it worked once for them only. Phone cancel fees were 380$. Now here is a question for iPhone users. If its cold does the phone think the sim card is not installed? I have not been able to find out any info about this. But it is quite annoying.
Dad told me off for them calling the house phone and not my cell phone. Even though calling on my cell phone was what started the problem they called about....

So I cleaned the sim card and some reason it hasn't lost it since. No idea how the sim card got dirty. Was taken out of the box and put in the phone. If it makes my iPhone happy I'm happy. I should be able to get better reception maybe.
This next bit isn't really a rant more of a kinda strange history lesson.
I was going though my internet usage quite fun reading how many MB I use in a day. My average for non marathon days is about 600MB yet the days I have watched a marathon the average is 2500MB.
I'm just glad I'm not on the pre June 2010 quota. I used to have. 63$ for 12 gig (which included both up and down data.) @ speeds up to 21Mbit/288kbit after quota used became 72kbit/72kbit.
Now I have 65$ for 200gig (still includes both up and down) @ speeds up to 38mbit/1.2mbit after quota speed 288kbit/288kbit.
Big change of heart from my ISP.

Any provider of anything that has compete is a pile of meh.
So new rant. Turns out my laptop battery is stuffed. I had a look on the internet 300$ for a asus replacement apparently. No name replacements for under 100$ though. Everytime I have went to buy a new battery for a previous laptop, the laptop has broken beyond repair. Or like 400-600$ for a repair. I have 2 that worked fine other then they need like new motherboards due to design faults.
If you have s site handy that sells new laptops from over their could you let me know. Might be worth getting one from over there.

I love Newegg.com, not sure if they'll ship to Australia, but it's worth checking them out.

Yeah no shipping here I had another look on google yeah the asus service centre sells it for 300$. I was hoping it was some rip off site not the actual service site. I'm just checking battery sites for the no name brands and yeah seems they are all out of stock. Asus K72JR i5 430M (2.26 GHz / 4 GB / 500 GB / 17.3 in) with some 1gig video card. So it isn't ancient or bad in today's standards. Other then the touch pad being a pain in the butt. If you ever wondered why some of the things I write have words missing chances are I wrote it on my laptop. It will randomly click and bye bye too whatever I wrote. Also it doesn't like to scroll. You have to do the most unnatural action for it to scroll other wise it scrolls the same bit over and over. Both problems aren't listed on the forum I visit that recommended it. So I have a feeling I ended up with a lemon one. Reading neweggs prices I'm sort of put off buying a new one. Might be cheaper just to get a tablet thing or a netbook for portable. Then keep my notebook just plugged in for net use inside my house.
